A Hopi canteen by Bobby Silas. 4 by 7 inches. $300

Both canteens are from the 1960s and unsigned. The one at right is definitely from Acoma while the other could very possibly be by a potter from Laguna, so we are trying to research that.It is likely by one of the Cheromiah family. The one at left measures 6 inches high by 5.25 inches high; SOLD The one with Parrot motif is 7.25 inches high by 7 inches wide; $275.

This effigy canteen was made by Barbara Johnson (1923-1997) a member of the Pima/Maricopa tribe. She learned from her nother, Mabel Sunn, and was the last to make very large jars. The photo is of her with her grand-daughter Teya Johnson-Tiger. 8 inches tall and 6 inches across. $450.
